Peter Petyt specializes in financial and strategic solutions for the legal services sector, advising on third-party funding for litigation and arbitration, helping law firms with strategic financial advice, and providing consultancy for stakeholders in the sector
After qualifying as a CPA in the UK in 1989 and then spending 12 years in industry, Peter became a corporate finance advisor in 2001. During the following 12 years, he originated and executed a number of lead advisory deals in the UK and the Middle East, involving development capital, acquisitions, MBO’s and divestments.
In 2013 Peter was appointed CEO of a legal services business which he prepared for exit by making three acquisitions, leading an aggressive origination strategy, recruiting high-class personnel, and developing new services to leverage the existing skillsets of the business.
In 2015 Peter joined a litigation finance fund to work on its origination strategy and the following year he established a litigation finance consultancy, 4 Rivers, which has been developed subsequently to advise on all aspects of third-party funding using a bespoke methodology based on Peter’s corporate finance experience.
Peter holds the ICAEW Advanced Diploma in Corporate Finance and was awarded an LLM with commendation in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution at City University, London, achieving a distinction in his dissertation on third-party funding. He is now undertaking part-time PhD research into portfolio funding for law firms at the University of Westminster.
